Gateway Arch — 3 Reel Set

Six hundred and thirty feet of stainless steel

The Gateway Arch is a stereo subject by accident of geometry: a single curve with nothing beside it for scale, which is precisely the situation a flat photograph cannot resolve. These three reels carry 21 images of the arch and St. Louis around it.

Looking up the leg of the arch in stereo is the moment the card earns itself — the curve pulls away from the viewer instead of flattening against the sky. Works in View-Master viewers; a viewer is needed to see the images.
